Fun Activities With Binoculars

Do you own a set of binoculars? If you don't, you're missing out on a lot of fun. Binoculars allow you to see things up close and give you the chance to feel as if you could actually reach out and touch birds or even the stars. And if you love birds, a good set of binoculars is just what you need to capture some of nature's most fascinating creatures; a popular activity is bird watching, where birdwatchers often look form afar so as to not scare away their entertainment.

Binoculars are designed mainly for use to view objects at a distance. Thus, stargazing and spotting prey afar are other fun uses, so a set of binoculars is a great companion to bring along when enjoying the outdoors. Amateur astronomers can quickly look at stars -- although a telescope would be more effective, you can use binoculars to enjoy the moon's craters and on clear nights, even the moons of Jupiter and Saturn. This could really be an exciting activity for children.

In fact, even during a solar eclipse (though these don't occur too often), you can glimpse at it with your binoculars. Because it's dangerous for your eyes, you should avoid looking directly at it, however, by projecting the eclipse onto a flat surface, it can really help you to view it enlarged.

Fun Activities With Binoculars

Of course, anyone who has used a binocular knows that looking through binoculars through the "wrong end" makes objects seem small and distant. This is only true of objects more than a couple of inches away. Because of the lenses of the binoculars, objects fewer than a couple of inches away will be magnified. Objects that you can physically go close to can be magnified many fold so that you can see every detail of the object with greater resolution than you would be able to if you looked at it through the "right end" of the binocular. For those who like to have fun marching to a different drummer, this is a great way to enjoy looking at flowers and other close-by objects.

Whether you have a binoculars hobby such as bird watching, prey spotting and hunting activities, or just love gazing into the outer space, there are different binoculars to best suit your needs. Ranging from compact travel size to the sophisticated high quality ones, bringing one along prior to setting out for your camping trip, class field trip event, or having one handy on a quiet beautiful night, will ensure that you won't miss out on any of the fun.
